Chapter 11: Fishes, Amphibians and Reptiles
Students will learn the common characteristics for all chordates and then discuss the differentiating characteristics of vertebrates and how they may have adapted for life on land.
This chapter mostly focuses on the characteristics of fishes, amphibians and reptiles. They will describe what scientists can learn from studying fossils and what type of rock fossils are frequently found.
We will also discuss the implications of declining amphibian populations after watching the PBS Nature special, "Frogs: A Thin Green Line." Check out the additional resources and see how you too can help improve circumstances for this important indicator species!
Check out the amphibian research conducted in our own backyard through Atlanta Botanical Gardens!
